Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Matos!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Lewis or perhaps it was just good defense by Matos which made him look bad.
Lewis fails to land the takedown.
Matos pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lewis moves to clinch but Matos breaks away
and Matos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt
and Matos counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Matos throws out a loose jab but Lewis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lewis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Matos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Horrible takedown by Lewis or perhaps it was just good defense by Matos which made him look bad.
Matos connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lewis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lewis won't let Matos get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Lewis throws some wild stikes that Matos manages to avoid easily.
Matos wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Lewis is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Lewis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Matos defends it nicely.
Lewis slips under a jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Matos ducks under a wild hook from Lewis.
James Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lewis moves out of range of the strikes.
Lewis doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Matos counter with a right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Matos throws out a loose jab but Lewis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lewis looks to land a body kick but Matos moved away.

Lewis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lewis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Matos just stands there and leans against the cage.
Matos tries to break free but Lewis pushes him back against the cage.

Lewis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Matos scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Matos slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Matos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice takedown defense from Matos. No joy for Lewis on that attempt.
Lewis is breathing heavily.
Matos misses with a two punch combination.
Matos lands with an uppercut that bounces Lewis off the cage and back into range.
Lewis tries to clinch up
and Matos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lewis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Matos.
Matos is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lewis had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Matos scores with a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Matos stuffs the takedown attempt from Lewis. Lewis gets slowly back to his feet.
Matos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Matos but Matos pushes him off and we're back to square one.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lewis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lewis ducks under a wild hook from Matos.
Matos looks to land a combination. Lewis sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Matos throws a lazy right hand but Lewis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lewis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Matos avoids it really well and circles away.
Decent striking displayed by Matos there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitor Matos dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Matos drops Lewis with a beautiful combination! Lewis stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Matos is looking for the KO!

It looks like James Lewis has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lewis walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Matos swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
