Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones's entrance music is Ennio Morricone - The Return of Ringo. A fine choice. Jan Nowak will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Nowak!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nowak swinging wildly here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nowak checks the leg kick nicely there.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nowak swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Nowak throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jones tries to clinch but Nowak moves out of range.
Nowak chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jones can pounce on him.
Nowak lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones has a takedown stuffed.
Nowak fails to land with a series of punches.
Nowak keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones with a poor takedown

and Nowak counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Jones is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Jones looking for a guillotine here but Nowak defends easily.
Jones is trying to control the position but Nowak postures up.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nowak is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.

Jones looks to land a strike but Nowak avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Nowak is keeping the position.

Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nowak swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nowak is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nowak keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nowak is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard.
Nowak has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones controls Nowak momentarily but Nowak frees himself.

Nowak gets to his feet. Jones looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nowak looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nowak throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nowak misses with a double jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Peter Jones will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jones connects with a solid leg kick.
Jones misses with a straight right.
Nowak looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
Jones uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nowak.
Jones takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Nowak stuffs the takedown.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nowak moves out of range of the leg kick from Jones.
Jones connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Nowak closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Nowak has control of the leg.
Jones is working hard here to advance position.
Jones has a hand on Nowak's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Nowak takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Jones is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jones gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones tries to roll over but Nowak keeps him under control.

Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nowak pulls his head out easily.
Jones wants to get back to full guard.
Jones wants to sweep but Nowak has passed to side control!
Jones regains half guard.
Nowak tries to stand and escape but Jones is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Nowak stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Nowak avoids a kick to the body.
Nowak swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nowak falls off balance throwing a combination

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nowak wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Nowak wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nowak's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones is keen to just control but Nowak is a slippery customer.

Jones is looking for a kimura here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones is looking to advance position but Nowak won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nowak is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nowak defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Jones dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Nowak just misses with a punch to the body.
Nowak keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Nice sprawl there from Nowak as Jones shoots in.
Jones throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nowak. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Nowak which made him look bad.
Nowak checks a leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jones.
Nowak rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Nowak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nowak misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Nowak gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch.
Jones tries to pull guard but Nowak holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nowak breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nowak jabs at Jones's body.
Jan Nowak is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones tries to clinch but Nowak is having none of it.
Nowak connects with a right hand. Jones shakes it off.
Nowak looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
Jones motions for Nowak to come forward. Jones throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nowak misses with a double jab.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nowak as he jumps to the side.
Jones throws a nice inside leg kick.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nowak fails to land with a series of punches.
Nowak lands the left hand.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nowak.
Peter Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones darts in trying to clinch
and Nowak counters with a series of strikes. Jones will be more careful next time no doubt.
Jan Nowak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nowak misses with a few strikes there.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nowak throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Nowak misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Nowak has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Nowak and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jones wants to slow Nowak down by chopping away at his legs.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Nowak lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Nowak will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nowak is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Jones rather than just go for the knockout.

and Nowak counters with a one-two to the body.
Jan Nowak seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Nowak looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely.

Nowak takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Nowak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nowak will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nowak was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nowak dives on top into guard.

Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Peter Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nowak postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Nowak is proving a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nowak is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jan Nowak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
