PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jamsha Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Bra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bra has chosen nobody said it was easy - evil activities as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jamsha Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robin Bra!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bra tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gonzales swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bra closes the distance looking to clinch
and Gonzales cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gonzales feints a jab promting Bra to slip. Gonzales then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bra slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Bra misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bra wants to clinch but Gonzales slips to the side
and Gonzales counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Bra lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bra is looking to clinch.
Bra throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gonzales tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bra sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gonzales somewhat.
Bra tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gonzales lands with a shot to the body.

Bra clinches up with Gonzales and pushes him back against the cage.
Bra comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Bra throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzales can't find room to land a body shot as Bra controls the action.
Gonzales really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bra comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Bra crunches a lovely knee into Gonzales's ribcage.

Bra breaks from the clinch.

Bra gets caught napping as Gonzales dives in and scores a takedown. Bra manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gonzales passes Bra's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Gonzales tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bra knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gonzales prevents Bra from improving his position.
Bra tries to kick Gonzales off but Gonzales keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Gonzales wants to free his trapped foot but Bra is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Gonzales is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Bra still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Bra has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Bra lands a nice forearm strike.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gonzales taking punishment in the form of punches.

Bra goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gonzales has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bra but great work by Gonzales.

Gonzales tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gonzales has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bra tries to improve position but can't.
Bra manages to get back to half guard.

Gonzales is looking for a kimura here.

Bra is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gonzales works his way into side control.
Bra wants to get back to his feet.

Gonzales goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bra has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gonzales but great work by Bra.
Bra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gonzales keeps working.

Bra stands up.

Bra stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bra wants it to stay on the feet.
Bra tries to clinch up but Gonzales circles away and keeps his distance.
Gonzales closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bra circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamsha Gonzales. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Gonzales counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Bra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bra throws a head kick that Gonzales semi-blocks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bra drives through and clinches with Gonzales against the cage.
Bra lands an elbow that stopped Gonzales in his tracks for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bra tries to land a knee to the head but Gonzales blocks with his arms.
Gonzales has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bra is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Gonzales's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sloppy strikes from Gonzales. Those never looked like landing.

Gonzales blocks a jab.
Bra tries to score with a low kick but Gonzales moves his leg out of the way.
Gonzales just misses with a punch to the body.
Bra tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gonzales shoots in and drives through. Bra sprawls well.
Bra throws a body kick that misses.
Gonzales fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bra throws a nice looking combination but Gonzales bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamsha Gonzales. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bra closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bra has an Americana. Gonzales didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Bra is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bra hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
