PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Risky Gamble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Studebaker Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gamble comes to the cage accompanied by Rick Ross ft Weezy - I'm a G. Hawk has chosen silver hawk as his entrance music. Risky Gamble has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Risky Gamble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Studebaker Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gamble fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hawk to the ground. Gamble is now in Hawk's guard.
Gamble passes into half guard.
Gamble is trying to control the action in half guard but Hawk is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hawk is looking to improve his position.
Hawk is trying to maintain the position but Gamble is very close to passing his half guard.
Hawk wants to improve his position but Gamble is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gamble controlling the action here.
Gamble wants to take a breather but Hawk is having none of it.

Risky Gamble has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Gamble slaps away a takedown attempt from Hawk, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gamble throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gamble punishes Hawk's body with a nice straight punch.
Gamble scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gamble throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hawk closes the distance and clinches up with Gamble, looking for a takedown. Hawk pushes Gamble against the cage but Gamble circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gamble throws a nice looking combination but Hawk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hawk takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Studebaker Hawk has been cut.
Hawk fails with a takedown attempt.
Risky Gamble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Studebaker Hawk.
Hawk takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gamble fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hawk has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gamble throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gamble loads up on a big right hand but Hawk slips the punch.
Hawk with a lazy takedown attempt
and Gamble counters with a body kick.
Gamble scores with a body shot.
Hawk has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Hawk avoids the head kick by Gamble.
Gamble throws a nice inside leg kick.

Gamble lands a left and a right that send Hawk crashing to the mat, dazed. Gamble thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Hawk is rocked!

Hawk gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gamble to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hawk is still in real trouble! Can Gamble finish him?
Gamble content to stall in guard here.
Hawk seems to have recovered his senses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gamble stands and throws Hawk's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gamble is staying tight to Hawk's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Gamble moves into full mount!
Gamble controlling from mount.
Hawk is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gamble looking to control but Hawk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gamble is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hawk is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gamble controlling from mount.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Risky Gamble just wasn't active enough.
Gamble throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hawk takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Gamble connects with a single shot there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Risky Gamble dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Studebaker Hawk's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Gamble darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gamble content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Gamble knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hawk on the ground.
Hawk is looking to improve his position.
Gamble trying to control the action but Hawk is working from the bottom.
Gamble is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hawk can do to turn this around?
Gamble slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Risky Gamble.
Hawk swings for the body but Gamble moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hawk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hawk dodges the punch combination from Gamble.
Hawk fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gamble lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Gamble tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hawk was well out of range. Poor timing from Gamble.
Risky Gamble is winning the standup battle so far.
Gamble misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Risky Gamble is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gamble gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hawk stopping the sweep attempt from Gamble.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hawk sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gamble's guard.

Hawk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gamble doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hawk.
Gamble gets full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hawk drops back looking for a leg! Gamble is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gamble manages to kick Hawk off! Hawk jumps back into Gamble's guard.
Gamble manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gamble trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Gamble content just to control the position here.
Hawk regains half guard.
Gamble with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hawk is not content to let Gamble control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gamble tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Gamble is looking to take a break and control but Hawk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Risky Gamble just wasn't active enough.
Gamble lands a nice hook to Hawk's body. Hawk takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Gamble ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gamble is looking to wear down Hawk with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Hawk shoots in and bounces Gamble off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gamble has his feet on Hawk's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Studebaker Hawk's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hawk fails with the takedown.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gamble but Gamble pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Hawk gets caught napping as Gamble dives in and scores a takedown. Hawk manages to retain guard.
Hawk wants to sweep but no luck.

Gamble stands up from Hawk's guard - Gamble perhaps looking for a knockout.
Gamble uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hawk.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gamble sprawls well. Gamble wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hawk gets slowly back to his feet.
Risky Gamble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Studebaker Hawk.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gamble throws a nice looking combination but Hawk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gamble throws a right hand that Hawk ducks under and follows up with a left that Hawk also avoids with ease.
Risky Gamble seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gamble leaves Hawk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hawk tries for a takedown but Gamble circles away easily
and Gamble counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Hawk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hawk closes the distance and clinches up with Gamble, looking for a takedown. Hawk pushes Gamble against the cage but Gamble circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gamble throws a right and a left that Hawk avoids nicely.
Gamble with a jab.
Gamble lands a slapping body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gamble connects with a looping right hand.
Gamble closes the distance and lands a one-two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gamble throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gamble throws a sloppy head kick and Hawk moves out of range easily.
Gamble lands a jab to the head.

Gamble changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hawk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gamble decides to stand back up.
Hawk dives in and grabs Gamble's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gamble pushes down on Hawk's head and hops out.
Hawk shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice sprawl there from Gamble as Hawk shoots in.
Gamble lands a really nice looking cross but Hawk seems unphased.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Good standup being displayed there by Gamble as he connects with a hook.

Oooooh!!! Gamble has knocked Hawk down with a huge combo! Gamble steps away and waves a wobbly Hawk back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gamble misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hawk.
Hawk shoots for a double leg takedown but Gamble sprawls well. He's pushed Hawk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hawk gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Gamble gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Hawk is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Risky Gamble!
After the fight, Risky Gamble was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
