Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Adam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruens's entrance music is River Below. A fine choice. Adam has chosen Grateful Deads- Truckin' as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Paul Bruens has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Bruens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rob Adam!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruens checks a leg kick.
Bruens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Adam as he avoids it easily.

Bruens closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bruens lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bruens is fighting to break Adam's control of his arms but Adam is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Adam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bruens can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Adam has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bruens is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Adam.
Adam takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

You can see the frustration on Adam's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bruens is looking to take a break and control but Adam is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bruens remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Adam is looking to regain half guard here but Bruens keeps moving and retains side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Adam is not content to let Bruens control the position.
Adam is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bruens's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Bruens is thwarting Adam's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Adam dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bruens avoids the body shot from Adam.
Rob Adam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adam throws a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Adam attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Adam lunges at Bruens with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bruens's hand.
Bruens feints and then cracks Adam's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Adam down.
Adam misses with a low kick as Bruens jumps back.
Adam throws the kick towards the body but Bruens avoids it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Adam.
Adam misses with a hook. Bruens ducked under it nicely.
Bruens fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Adam connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bruens momentarily.
A big left from Adam misses.
Adam lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Adam takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Bruens lands with a kick to the ribs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bruens fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Adam.
Adam avoids a kick to the body.
Adam on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Bruens feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Adam holds on and takes a little breather.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rob Adam wasn't active enough on the ground.
Adam looks for the body kick but Bruens saw that one coming.
Adam finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Adam lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Adam takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bruens steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Adam. That one must have hurt.

Bruens throws an overhand right that lands on Adam's shoulder, as Adam tries to avoid the shot.
Bruens tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Bruens avoids the head kick by Adam.
Adam fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bruens looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rob Adam is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Adam fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bruens manages to avoid it.
Nice takedown defense from Adam. No joy for Bruens on that attempt.
Bruens is breathing heavily.
Adam closes the distance looking to clinch
and Bruens counters with a nice kick to the body.
Bruens fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Bruens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Adam throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Adam throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bruens stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Bruens counters with a stiff right hand.
Bruens is looking to chop away at Adam's legs.
Adam throws a hook to the side of Bruens's head but Bruens sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bruens keeps the fight on the outside.
Adam scores with a hook to the body. Bruens takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Adam scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Adam throws a body kick that misses.
Adam tries to clinch up.
Bruens jabs Adam right on the nose. Adam blinks but takes it well.

Adam ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bruens moves away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bruens takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Bruens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Adam as he avoids it easily.
Rob Adam seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bruens uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Adam.

Adam gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Bruens.
A nice left hand lands by Adam.
Adam throws a head punch that misses.
A head punch on the inside from Adam fails to land.
Adam lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Bruens backwards.
Bruens blocks an uppercut.
A right handed body shot lands from Adam.
Adam lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Paul Bruens has been cut.
Adam is leaning against Bruens and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Adam creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Adam drives through and clinches with Bruens against the cage.

Bruens tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Adam just stands there and leans against the cage.
Adam throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Bruens's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Adam can't find room to land a body shot as Bruens controls the action.
Bruens jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Adam walks away with a smile on his face. Bruens gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Adam lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Adam lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Adam cracks Bruens with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bruens looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Adam finish him?


Bruens is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Adam is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Oh Bruens is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Adam tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Adam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Adam drops Bruens with a naaaaasty hook - Bruens is in real trouble here! Adam dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
