PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Textmark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power has chosen X gonna give it to ya - DMX as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 23 - 1, fighting out of London, Justin Textmark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Thomas Power!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Textmark finds it's way round the side to connect with Power's head.


It looks like Thomas Power has been cut.
Power drops his hands momentarily and Textmark takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Textmark wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

so Power counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Power gets to his feet - Textmark follows without any prompting.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Power tries to sprawl but Textmark drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Power is trying to stand up here but Textmark is controlling him well.
Textmark wants to pass the guard but Power is defending well.
Textmark prevents Power from standing back up.

Textmark looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Power pushes Textmark away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Textmark gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Power can't do much from the bottom here.

Textmark seems to be working for a kimura but Power defends the submission attempt.

Textmark seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Power does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Textmark looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Textmark thows a huge punch but Power dodges it nicely.

Textmark is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Power is just riding it out for now. Textmark eventually gives up the hold.

Power kicks Textmark off and gets back to his feet.
Textmark is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Textmark drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Power shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Textmark sprawls well. Textmark wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Power gets slowly back to his feet.

Power lands a left and a right that send Textmark crashing to the mat, dazed. Power thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Power ducks under a wild hook from Textmark.
Nice takedown defense from Textmark. No joy for Power on that attempt.
Textmark swats away the attempt to clinch by Power.
Power fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Power manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Textmark on his heels. He'll look to pass Textmark's guard now, I'm sure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thomas Power showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Power slips under a jab.

Textmark gets caught napping as Power dives in and scores a takedown. Textmark manages to retain guard.

Power stands and steps away. Textmark gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Textmark connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Justin Textmark.
I think Textmark has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
