PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ronda Rasej (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tad Unhinged (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronda Rasej!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tad Unhinged!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rasej looking to score a takedown here. Unhinged is defending well but Rasej drives through and ends up in Unhinged's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Unhinged can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Unhinged is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rasej trying to control but Unhinged is working from the bottom.
Unhinged looking to control.
Rasej content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Unhinged tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Unhinged is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rasej is controlling him.
Rasej throws a strike but Unhinged rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Unhinged gets to his feet - Rasej follows without any prompting.

Rasej fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Unhinged to the ground. Rasej is now in Unhinged's guard.
Rasej in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rasej wants to pass the guard but Unhinged is keeping the position.
Unhinged avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rasej stopping the sweep attempt from Unhinged.

Unhinged has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rasej can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Unhinged looking for a guillotine here but Rasej defends easily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Unhinged is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Unhinged is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Unhinged trying to control the position from guard on top but Rasej is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Unhinged missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Unhinged trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Unhinged stopping the sweep attempt from Rasej.
Rasej is trying to keep Unhinged in close.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Unhinged misses with a takedown attempt - Rasej sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rasej shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rasej showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Unhinged is looking for a sweep. Rasej is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rasej scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Unhinged actively working from the bottom here.
Unhinged is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rasej scores with a couple of nice shots.

Unhinged looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Rasej is looking to stall here but Unhinged recovers full guard.
Unhinged wants to stand and escape but Rasej is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rasej could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ronda Rasej will probably get the nod.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Unhinged enables Rasej to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Unhinged manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Unhinged is trying to keep Rasej in close.
Unhinged keeping moving, preventing Rasej from controlling successfully.
Rasej has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Unhinged looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Unhinged is on top in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tad Unhinged was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Unhinged clinches.

Unhinged gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Unhinged wants to get up but he can't break Rasej's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rasej has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Unhinged stands and throws Rasej's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Unhinged tries to score with some ground and pound. Rasej controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Unhinged is looking to take a break and control but Rasej is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Unhinged looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

An elbow from Unhinged crashes against the mat.

Unhinged tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Unhinged has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Unhinged is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rasej has escaped the position, nice work there.

Unhinged decides to stand back up. Unhinged steps back and let's Rasej get back to his feet.
Tad Unhinged is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Unhinged tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rasej swivels and escapes.
Unhinged with a poor takedown

and Rasej counters with a nice double leg into side control. Unhinged won't be happy with that.
Unhinged is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rasej trying to control the action but Unhinged is working from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tad Unhinged showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A bone on bone clash there as Rasej blocks the leg kick.
Unhinged fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rasej bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rasej cracks Unhinged with a big right hand but Unhinged just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Unhinged is trying to get back to half guard.
Rasej connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Unhinged some visible discomfort.
Rasej grinds an elbow into Unhinged's temple.

Unhinged sneaks back into half guard.
Unhinged takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Unhinged tries to get to full guard but Rasej has control of the leg.
Rasej slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rasej lands a nice short elbow.
Unhinged wants to control but Rasej is keeping busy.
Unhinged is refusing to be controlled, as Rasej sits in half guard.
Unhinged regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Rasej.

Rasej pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Unhinged is keeping the position for now.
Unhinged is trying to keep Rasej in close.
Rasej throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rasej accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Unhinged wants to sweep here but Rasej controlling him for the moment.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rasej is posturing up here but Unhinged has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rasej tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rasej has to tap! Slick submission there by Unhinged!
