PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mercutio Benvolio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Wolfe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wolfe has chosen The Ramones - Blitzkreig Bop! as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benvolio swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Benvolio misses with a wild combination.
Benvolio fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wolfe manages to avoid it.
Benvolio throws a big shot that misses.
Benvolio connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wolfe's hands.
Benvolio punishes Wolfe's body with a nice straight punch.

Benvolio goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Some bone on bone action there as Benvolio checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wolfe fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Benvolio is out of range.
Wolfe lands with a kick to the temple. Benvolio shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Wolfe attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

and Wolfe counters with a low kick, right behind Benvolio 's knee.
Benvolio misses with an uppercut. Wolfe saw that one coming.
Wolfe bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Benvolio will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Benvolio throws a right hand that Wolfe ducks under and follows up with a left that Wolfe also avoids with ease.

Wolfe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Benvolio to the mat! Benvolio manages to get full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Benvolio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Wolfe slips a nice elbow through Benvolio's hands, connecting with Benvolio's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wolfe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Benvolio defends it well.

Wolfe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Benvolio looks a forlorn figure.

Wolfe is landing with some decent strikes but Benvolio is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

BOOM! Wolfe connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Benvolio is rocked!
Benvolio is looking to improve his position but Wolfe isn't that keen on the idea.
Oh Benvolio is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Wolfe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Wolfe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
