Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Barnet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlo Recto!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnet shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Recto moves in looking to clinch but Barnet pushes him off.
Barnet misses with a takedown attempt

and Recto counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Barnet looks like he's trying to stand up.
Barnet makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Barnet.
Barnet is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Barnet prevents Recto from improving his position.
Barnet is controlling the pace.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barnet looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barnet passes the guard and advances to mount!
Recto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barnet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barnet wants to control the pace but Recto is squirming around nicely.
Barnet takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Recto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Barnet slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

No joy there for Recto, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Good leg kick by Barnet there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Barnet fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Recto manages to avoid it.
Recto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barnet is fending him off so far but Recto persists. Nope, Barnet circles away and we're back to standing.

Horrible takedown by Barnet or perhaps it was just good defense by Recto which made him look bad.

Recto wants to pass the guard but Barnet is keeping the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Recto is trying to drag Barnet to the mat but Barnet just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
