Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gina Carano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gina Carano will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gina Carano!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker throws a body punch but Carano moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Carano.
Carano tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Walker tries to score with a low kick but Carano moves his leg out of the way.
Walker misses with a series of wild punches.
A head kick misses from Carano.
Carano is looking to clinch.
Walker is looking to clinch but Carano is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Walker counters with a single leg into guard. Carano didn't expect that.
Carano wants to stand and escape but Walker is having none of it.
Walker is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Walker chips away with some ground and pound.

Carano wants to get back to his feet but Walker is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carano is proving hard to escape from.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Carano rushes Walker and presses him up against the cage.
Carano tries a knee to the head but Walker blocks it.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Carano misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Walker.

Walker fails with an attempt to clinch.

Walker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Carano can't do much from the bottom here.

Walker looking to control but instead Carano has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Walker lands a nice short elbow.
Walker tries to pass to full mount but Carano defends it.
Carano tries to roll over but Walker keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carano is trying to stand back up but Walker is controlling him

and Carano counters with a head kick. That will keep Walker thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Carano is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Walker lands a two punch combo.
Carano tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Walker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carano tries to avoid it but Walker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carano to the ground. Carano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Carano counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Walker thinking.

Walker tries for a takedown but Carano sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gina Carano is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carano tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Walker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Walker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Walker has his foot on Carano's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carano works his way back into a safe position though.

Carano's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

I think Carano has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
