Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Country (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Copley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doug Copley!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Copley misses.
Copley tries to clinch up but Country circles away and keeps his distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Copley decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Copley is trying to control the action in half guard but Country is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Copley is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Country works his way to full guard. Good work.
Copley wanted to stand there but Country had control of the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Roy Country wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Copley throws a solid leg kick but Country takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Copley.
Country cracks Copley with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Copley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Copley takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Copley throws a low kick, looking for Country's leg but Country calmly moves out of range.

Doug Copley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Country counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Copley!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Copley bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Country is on top in guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Country won't allow Copley to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Country sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Copley's guard.

Country seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Copley for as long as he can get away with.
Country is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Copley!

Copley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Country takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Country has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Country's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Copley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Country uses from the top position.

Copley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Country defends it easily.
Copley is breathing heavily.
Country stands and throws Copley's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Country has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Copley!
Copley really wants to buck Country off and get back to his feet.
Copley is working to get back to half guard.
Country lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Copley tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Country looking to control and managing it successfully.

Copley has left one of his arms exposed and Country doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Copley screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
