The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez tries to clinch up

Cruz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rodriguez.
Cruz uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rodriguez has time to react.

It looks like Javier Rodriguez has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cruz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Rodriguez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cruz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Cruz bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rodriguez's head backwards.
Cruz missing with a left hand there. Rodriguez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cruz jabs Rodriguez to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Cruz throws a hook but Rodriguez avoids it easily.
Rodriguez walks into a left hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rodriguez leaves his chin hanging out and Cruz seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Rodriguez crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
