Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thiang Puruhat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sunny Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Thiang Puruhat has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thiang Puruhat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sunny Day!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Puruhat circles away quickly and effectively.

Day darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Puruhat is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Puruhat is trying to get back to full guard.

Day is looking for a kimura here.

Puruhat actively working from the bottom here.
Puruhat gets full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Puruhat looking for a guillotine here but Day defends easily.
Day won't allow Puruhat to sweep him here.

Puruhat had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Day defends it easily.

Day throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Puruhat works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Day has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Day stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Puruhat swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Puruhat moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Day sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Puruhat's guard.
Puruhat tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Day is trying to work for a kimura but Puruhat is defending well.
Puruhat tries to roll over but Day keeps him under control.
Puruhat regains full guard. Nicely done.
Day forces his way into half guard.

Puruhat has his foot on Day's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Day works his way back into a safe position though.

Puruhat has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Day can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Thiang Puruhat will probably get the nod.
That's time! Puruhat's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Puruhat tries to close the distance and clinch but Day swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sunny Day is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Day keeps the fight on the outside.

Day shoots in and bounces Puruhat off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Puruhat wants to improve his position but instead Day has moved into half guard.
Puruhat is looking to get back to full guard here but Day has managed to pass to side control instead.

Day is trying to get an arm triangle but Puruhat is defending well.
Day scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Puruhat to see if he's OK.

Thiang Puruhat overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Day is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Puruhat as he works his way to full guard.

Puruhat looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Day is avoiding damage well.

Puruhat goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Day has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Puruhat but great work by Day.

Day's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Day tries to reverse the position but Puruhat maintains control.

Day holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Puruhat tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Puruhat swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Day is now in Puruhat's guard. A big mistake from Puruhat there, giving up the dominant position!
Thiang Puruhat is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I would just about give that final round to Sunny Day.
Well Puruhat has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
