Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blake The Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masayuki Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake The Snake could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Masayuki Kono's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Blake The Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masayuki Kono!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Snake scoring well with a low kick there.
Kono closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Blake The Snake has been cut.
The Snake throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Kono throws out a loose jab but The Snake uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kono wants to clinch up but The Snake keeps it at a distance.
The Snake tries to clinch up but Kono circles away and keeps his distance.
The Snake fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kono throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The Snake shoots in and drives through. Kono sprawls well.
The Snake shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blake The Snake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The Snake moves out of range of the strikes.
Kono tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but The Snake paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The Snake gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The Snake controls Kono momentarily but Kono frees himself.

Kono postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Snake has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kono has passed into side control.
The Snake is looking for a sweep.
The Snake is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kono off and has taken his back!
Kono just looking to survive in the bad position.
Kono trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
The Snake is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Snake scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Kono tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Snake is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Kono is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The Snake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kono is looking to improve his position but The Snake isn't that keen on the idea.
Kono wants to control but The Snake is having none of it.

The Snake blocks Kono's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
The Snake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The Snake prevents Kono from getting the reversal.
Kono is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kono tries to hold on but The Snake pushes him away.
Kono holds on to The Snake around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kono bucks The Snake off and manages to get back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The Snake tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kono swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kono shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kono was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kono cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Kono lands with some vicious ground and pound - can The Snake hang on?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kono lands a heavy elbow.
Kono tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Kono has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! The Snake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kono looks to land a body kick but The Snake moved away.
Blake The Snake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The Snake keeps the fight on the outside.
The Snake scores with the left hand. Kono knows he should have avoided that one.
Kono fails with the takedown.
Kono shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with The Snake but The Snake pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kono blocks a head kick by The Snake.
Kono tries to clinch but The Snake moves away
and The Snake counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The Snake wants to clinch but Kono slips to the side

and Kono counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The Snake is looking to escape.
Kono is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kono's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kono is looking to advance position but The Snake won't allow it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kono connects with a nice short shot to The Snake's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kono is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kono has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The Snake has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kono is working away from the top position though.
Kono performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Masayuki Kono has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Masayuki Kono.

The Snake gets caught flat footed, as Kono shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kono gets to his feet - The Snake follows without any prompting.

Kono moves into the clinch.

Kono escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kono looks for the body kick but The Snake saw that one coming.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kono slips a nice elbow through The Snake's hands, connecting with The Snake's forehead.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Masayuki Kono showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Kono closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kono thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed The Snake's head.
Kono slows the pace down in half guard.

Kono stands up out of the half guard.

Kono drives through with a takedown into The Snake's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kono content to stall in guard here.

The Snake looking for a guillotine here but Kono defends easily.
Kono slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kono stands and steps away. The Snake gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The Snake tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kono swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kono fails in his attempt to clinch.
Masayuki Kono seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kono shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Snake's guard.
Kono controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kono lands a couple of elbows.
Kono is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kono gets to his feet. The Snake looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kono looking to score a takedown here. The Snake is defending well but Kono drives through and ends up in The Snake's guard.
The Snake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kono stands up and waves to The Snake to follow him.
Kono lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Kono sizes up The Snake with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kono darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
The Snake throws a lazy uppercut

and Kono counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kono is keen to just control but The Snake is a slippery customer.
Kono not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The Snake tries to get to full guard but Kono has control of the leg.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Masayuki Kono comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kono has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
