PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henry Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Mosley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Fake the Funk by Prince Charles. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Mosley!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles tries to bum rush Mosley with a series of wild strikes but Mosley uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mosley fails with the takedown.

Charles moves into the clinch successfully.
Charles working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Charles lands a nice uppercut.
Charles tries to throw a body punch but Mosley avoids it by throwing Charles back against the cage.
Charles crunches a lovely knee into Mosley's ribcage.
Charles lands a hook to the side of the head.

Charles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Charles works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Charles takes the fight into the clinch.
Mosley misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Charles gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Charles blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Charles lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Hank Mosley has been cut.
Mosley jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Charles walks away with a smile on his face. Mosley gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Charles throws a right and a left that both miss.

Mosley clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Charles.
Charles stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Charles lands a hook that snaps the head of Mosley backwards.
Charles doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Charles lands with a left to the head.
Mosley blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Mosley using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Charles has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Mosley jumps guard but Charles stands there with Mosley around his waist. Mosley gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Henry Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hank Mosley.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mosley is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Charles to keep the fight standing.

Charles breaks from the clinch.
Charles lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Mosley tries to clinch there but Charles circles away.
A combination from Charles does no damage.
Mosley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Charles throws a body punch but Mosley moves out of range.
Charles lands a slapping body shot.
Charles cracks the inside of Mosley's front leg.
Charles fails to land with a series of punches.

Mosley closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Charles quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mosley seems to be working for a kimura but Charles defends the submission attempt.

Charles kicks off Mosley and gets to his feet.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Charles just misses with a punch to the body.
Mosley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Charles as he jumps to the side.
Charles tests Mosley's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Charles dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mosley tries to close the distance and clinch but Charles swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mosley walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Charles misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hank Mosley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mosley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Charles gets tackled into the cage by Mosley. Mosley maintains the clinch.
Mosley tries to pull guard but Charles won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Charles lands a body punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Mosley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mosley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Charles tries to avoid it but Mosley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Charles to the ground. Charles escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Charles lands with a nice combination. Mosley backs away looking to recover.

Mosley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Charles's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mosley is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Charles is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Charles has escaped and now he's on top!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mosley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Charles uses from the top position.

Mosley has momentary wrist control but Charles slips an elbow through the middle.
Charles sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mosley's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Charles has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
