Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Povetkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Lunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Povetkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Lunn!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lunn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Povetkin.
Alexander Povetkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lunn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Povetkin is doing well to control the position and prevent Lunn from advancing to side control.
Lunn missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lunn throwing shots but Povetkin is blocking nicely.
Povetkin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lunn stops Povetkin from getting back to his feet.
Povetkin keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Lunn seems to be working for a kimura but Povetkin defends the submission attempt.
Povetkin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lunn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Povetkin manages to get to full guard.
Povetkin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Lunn throws an elbow that misses. Povetkin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lunn's guard. Nice move by Povetkin!

Lunn has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Povetkin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lunn.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lunn is looking for a sweep.
Povetkin controlling the position.

Lunn is pushing Povetkin's head away, looking to escape. Povetkin manages to hold on to the position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lunn wants to get back to his feet but Povetkin is dominant here and he's now got Lunn's back!
Lunn is in bad spot here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lunn is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Povetkin controlling from the back.
You can see the frustration on Lunn's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Lunn is trying to stand back up.
Povetkin is hanging on to Lunn's back as he tries to escape.
Lunn breaks Povetkin's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Povetkin wants to stand but Lunn is controlling the position.
Lunn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Povetkin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lunn manages to get himself to full guard.

Lunn throws his legs up looking for a submission but Povetkin uses it to pass to side control.
Lunn looks gassed!
Lunn tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Povetkin presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lunn is desperately trying to improve his position but Povetkin has a good base and remains in mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Billy Lunn will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lunn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lunn walks into a left hand.


It looks like Billy Lunn has been cut.

Povetkin moves into the clinch successfully.
Povetkin gets underhooks to prevent Lunn's takedown attempt.
Good body shot from Povetkin.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Povetkin lands with a left to the head.


Lunn is rocked!
A short body shot lands from Povetkin as the two fighters clinch.
Lunn is still on wobbly legs! Can Povetkin finish him?
Povetkin is working Lunn over against the cage.
Lunn seems to have recovered his senses.
Povetkin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Povetkin.
Povetkin cracks Lunn with a nice body shot.
Still in the clinch, Povetkin scores with a nice short uppercut.
Povetkin digs a right hand underneath Lunn's ribcage. Lunn let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Lunn is breathing heavily.
Povetkin throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Povetkin creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Lunn with a big uppercut! Lunn tries to clinch up but Povetkin pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Lunn to the mat! Lunn covers up and Povetkin unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Alexander Povetkin!
After winning the bout, Alexander Povetkin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
