Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Buscemi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Floyd Mondello!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mondello dives in and grabs Buscemi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buscemi pushes down on Mondello's head and hops out.
Mondello keeps the fight on the outside.
Buscemi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Steve Buscemi has been cut.
Buscemi misses with a wild body shot.
Mondello doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Buscemi has a takedown stuffed.
Buscemi dodges the punch combination from Mondello.
Buscemi dives in and grabs Mondello's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mondello pushes down on Buscemi's head and hops out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mondello fails with a takedown attempt.
Mondello closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Buscemi manages to break the clinch.
Mondello swats away the attempt to clinch by Buscemi.
Buscemi misses with a takedown attempt - Mondello sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Buscemi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Buscemi shoots in but Mondello avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mondello lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Buscemi misses with a hook.
Buscemi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Mondello throws a series of punches but Buscemi avoids them all with ease.
Buscemi could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mondello fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mondello throws a right and a left that Buscemi avoids nicely.
Buscemi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Steve Buscemi's cut is getting worse.
Mondello misses with a two punch combination.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mondello tries for a takedown but Buscemi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mondello moves out of range as Buscemi throws a body kick.
Mondello closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mondello is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Mondello shuts the power down on Buscemi. Lights out, game over! Mondello is your winner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Floyd Mondello!
