PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Forrester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forrester has chosen The Rooster by Alice and Chains as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Nathaniel Forrester will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Koscheck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathaniel Forrester!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forrester ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Forrester throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Koscheck stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Koscheck slips a jab and a cross from Forrester.
Forrester lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Aaron Koscheck has been cut.
Forrester cracks Koscheck with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Forrester throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Koscheck.

Koscheck feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Koscheck is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Forrester looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Koscheck puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Koscheck tries to pass to full mount but Forrester defends it.
Koscheck looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Koscheck is trying to work for a kimura but Forrester is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koscheck wants to free his trapped foot but Forrester is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Forrester trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Koscheck manages to pass to mount!
Koscheck looking to control and managing it successfully.
Forrester can't escape the position.

Koscheck has hold of Forrester's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Forrester manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koscheck takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Koscheck goes for an armbar but Forrester turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Forrester.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Forrester looking to sit in guard and control but Koscheck gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Forrester seems keen to control Koscheck's posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Koscheck shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Forrester looks like he's trying to stand up.

Forrester is in trouble now - Koscheck has advanced to mount!
Forrester tries to reverse the position but Koscheck maintains control.

Koscheck tries for a takedown but Forrester sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Forrester will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A nice combination there by Forrester.
Koscheck takes a swing at Forrester's ribcage but misses.

Koscheck shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Forrester sprawls well. Forrester wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Koscheck gets slowly back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Forrester throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Koscheck.
Koscheck tries to clinch up but Forrester circles away and keeps his distance.
Koscheck doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Koscheck throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Forrester tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Koscheck is in Forrester's guard.
Koscheck won't allow Forrester to get back to his feet.

Koscheck wants to control from the top but Forrester keeps moving.
Forrester is looking to stand back up but Koscheck counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Forrester.
Koscheck thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Forrester's head.
Forrester is staying active underneath Koscheck, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Koscheck seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Forrester wants to sweep but Koscheck has passed to side control!

Koscheck passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Forrester!

Koscheck fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Forrester has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Koscheck's lack of action.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Koscheck keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Forrester thows a body shot but no joy.
Sloppy strikes from Forrester. Those never looked like landing.
Forrester lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Koscheck tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Forrester rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Koscheck moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Forrester misses with a kick to the body.

Koscheck gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Koscheck has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Forrester clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Forrester is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Koscheck looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Aaron Koscheck.
Forrester scores with a nice strike.
Forrester throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Koscheck.

Koscheck closes the distance and pushes Forrester back into the cage.
Koscheck lands a right hand that snaps the head of Forrester backwards.

Koscheck wants the takedown. Forrester is fighting it off but Koscheck persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Forrester's guard against the cage.

Koscheck avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Koscheck passes Forrester's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Still in half guard, Koscheck seems content to control.
Nathaniel Forrester has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aaron Koscheck overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
