Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominickoy Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morgan Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palhares comes to the cage accompanied by "Rumour Has It/Someone Like You". Morgan Jones is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Palhares works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Palhares is working for a kimura here but Jones manages to reverse the position and he's now in Palhares's guard.
Palhares looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Palhares is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Palhares manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Palhares is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Palhares wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Jones has control of Palhares's left arm, preventing Palhares from doing any damage.

Palhares drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Palhares has Jones in his guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Palhares keeps moving.
Palhares wants to sweep but no luck.
Palhares has control of Jones's left arm, preventing Jones from doing any damage.
Palhares wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

Jones content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Palhares has locked up a guillotine! Palhares's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Jones is holding on here and Palhares must be using up a lot of energy. Jones has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Palhares gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

After the fight, Dominickoy Palhares was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
