The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Werdum gets tackled into the cage by Kazashi. Kazashi maintains the clinch.
Werdum works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Werdum thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kazashi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Kazashi wants to get back to his feet but Werdum is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Werdum is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kazashi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Werdum is one step ahead there.
Werdum tries to free his leg and advance position but Kazashi is retaining full guard.
Werdum has gone for a leg lock! Kazashi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Werdum's guard.
Werdum manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kazashi manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Werdum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Werdum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kazashi looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kazashi looks gassed!
Werdum is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kazashi trying to keep a closed guard but Werdum is proving a slippery customer.
Kazashi doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kazashi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Werdum. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Werdum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Werdum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Werdum got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kazashi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Werdum has managed to get both his arms back between Kazashi's legs - danger averted.

Kazashi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Werdum is pushing down on Kazashi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kazashi is fighting to maintain full guard but Werdum has managed to sneak the leg through.
Werdum is working for a kimura but Kazashi is defending it quite comfortably.
Kazashi is defending against the submission attempts here by Werdum.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Werdum has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kazashi defend it? Werdum steps over the head and cranks it - Kazashi is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Werdum!
