PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Math Wyvern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Eurodancer. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Wyvern closes the distance and clinches.
Jenkins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Wyvern gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Wyvern breaks from the clinch.

Jenkins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jenkins showed some decent athleticism there.
Wyvern wants to improve his position but Jenkins is controlling well.
Jenkins throwing shots but Wyvern is blocking nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wyvern is looking to escape.
Wyvern wants to control but Jenkins is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jenkins should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jenkins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wyvern knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jenkins on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jenkins swats away the attempt to clinch by Wyvern.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jenkins darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nice sprawl there from Wyvern as Jenkins shoots in.
Jenkins fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Math Wyvern has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Jenkins.
Wyvern shoots in for a double leg but Jenkins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Wyvern bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jenkins is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Jenkins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wyvern is trying to control the position but Jenkins postures up.

Jenkins wants to control from the top but Wyvern keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wyvern can't keep his opponent in guard - Jenkins advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Wyvern has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jenkins is working away from the top position though.
Jenkins wants to control but Wyvern is keeping him busy.
Wyvern works his way to full guard. Good work.
Wyvern looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Wyvern is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wyvern is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jenkins scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jenkins perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Jenkins stands up out of the half guard.

Jenkins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wyvern gets back to full guard.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wyvern swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jenkins stands up from Wyvern's guard - Jenkins perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jenkins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wyvern's waist but Wyvern gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jenkins off to one side.

Wyvern is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jenkins's shoulder. That is not cool.

Jenkins manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wyvern's best efforts.

Wyvern postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jenkins to stand up.
