PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Trainer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clark's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Follow Me by Breaking Benjamin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Clark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ray Trainer!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Clark lands an impressive looking overhand right. Trainer doesn't seem phased though.

Trainer feints and as Clark raises his hands in defense, Trainer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Trainer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Clark is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trainer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Trainer trying to control the position from guard on top but Clark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Trainer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Clark's head.
Trainer with a flurry of punches that miss.
Trainer controls from within his opponent's guard.
Trainer trying to control but Clark is working from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ray Trainer wasn't active enough on the ground.
Trainer swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Clark gets tackled into the cage by Trainer. Trainer maintains the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Trainer decides to pull guard.

Trainer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clark gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Trainer keeping moving, preventing Clark from controlling successfully.

Clark won't allow Trainer to sweep him here.
Clark has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Trainer is proving hard to escape from.
Trainer wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Trainer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Trainer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Clark defends well.
Trainer wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trainer is on top in guard.
Trainer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Trainer trying to control the position from guard on top but Clark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ray Trainer was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Trainer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Clark quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Trainer dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Clark wants to clinch up but Trainer keeps it at a distance.
Clark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Clark is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Clark takes a swing at Trainer's ribcage but misses.
Trainer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clark swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Trainer looks to score with a jab to the body but Clark is just out of range.

Trainer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clark to the mat! Clark manages to get full guard.
Clark wants to stand up but Trainer is controlling him.
Trainer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Clark can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Trainer controls the pace.

Trainer is in close to Clark's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Ray Trainer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Trainer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clark swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Clark avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Clark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Trainer scoring with punches to the head and body.
Trainer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Clark knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Trainer on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Trainer moves in looking to clinch but Clark pushes him off.
Trainer slips under a jab.
Clark scores with a body shot.
Trainer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Clark.
Danny Clark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clark scores with a head kick. Trainer tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Trainer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Clark sprawls well initially but Trainer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Trainer not doing much here.

Trainer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ray Trainer wasn't active enough on the ground.
Trainer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Clark slips a jab and a cross from Trainer.

Trainer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Trainer performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Trainer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Trainer passes the guard and advances to mount!
Clark wants to hold on but Trainer pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Trainer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Clark looks to land a body kick but Trainer moved away.
Clark ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Trainer has Clark up against the cage in a clinch.
Clark landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Trainer wants to take the fight to the mat but Clark manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Clark tries to land knees in the clinch but Trainer avoids the damage to the body.
Trainer has Clark pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Clark manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Trainer is trying to pull guard but Clark has him pressed against the cage.
Danny Clark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Trainer.
Trainer is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Clark is defending well.

The referee is keeping an eye on Trainer - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Clark lands a good knee to the midsection. Trainer won't want to take too many of those.
Clark is looking to break free of the clinch but Trainer has double underhooks.

Clark tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Trainer avoids it.

Clark crunches a lovely knee into Trainer's ribcage.
Clark looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Trainer is working for takedown but Clark is calmly controlling the position for now.
Trainer blocks a body shot from Clark.
Clark is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Clark tries to stall but Trainer uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Clark misses the jab.
Clark bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Trainer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Clark.
Clark tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Clark misses with a head kick.
Clark throws a sloppy head kick and Trainer moves out of range easily.
Trainer is looking to clinch but Clark is avoiding it.
Trainer misses with a few strikes there.
Trainer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Trainer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Clark.
Clark avoids the body shot from Trainer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Trainer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Trainer misses the shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Danny Clark showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Trainer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
