The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pellegrini throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sonnen throws a low kick but Pellegrini moves out of range easily.
Sonnen throws a series of punches but Pellegrini avoids them all with ease.
Pellegrini pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A punch combination from Sonnen misses.
Pellegrini is looking to clinch.
Pellegrini tries to clinch up.
Pellegrini throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sonnen feints and as Pellegrini raises his hands in defense, Sonnen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Pellegrini is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sonnen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sonnen tries to free his leg and advance position but Pellegrini is retaining full guard.

Pellegrini is looking to sinch up a triangle. Sonnen throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Pellegrini's body to avoid the submission. Pellegrini has instead reached around Sonnen's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Pellegrini arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
