Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shishkhabevov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shishkhabevov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Thomas's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Shishkhabevov trying to control the position from guard on top but Thomas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Shishkhabevov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thomas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Thomas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shishkhabevov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Thomas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Thomas wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas has his foot on Shishkhabevov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shishkhabevov works his way back into a safe position though.
Shishkhabevov passes into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Thomas manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Thomas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Shishkhabevov tries to hold on but Thomas postures up.
Shishkhabevov tries to reverse the position but Thomas maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Shishkhabevov is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Shishkhabevov flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Thomas anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Shishkhabevov and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Thomas slips an arm under Shishkhabevov chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Thomas has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Thomas is squeezing on Shishkhabevov like an anaconda would it's prey. Shishkhabevov fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). John Thomas!
