The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin throws a hook but El blocks it.
Griffin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Griffin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Griffin throws a sloppy head kick and El moves out of range easily.
Griffin lands a lovely overhand right.

It looks like Kal El has been cut.
El tries to clinch there but Griffin circles away.
Griffin swats away the attempt to clinch by El.
A combination from Griffin does no damage.
Griffin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Griffin.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Griffin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Griffin winds up and cracks El with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
El is trying to control but Griffin manages to pass to mount!
El seems to have got his legs back now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

El moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Griffin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

El has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Griffin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
El throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Griffin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
El scores with a jab to the body.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

El fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
El avoids the head kick by Griffin.

Kal El is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Griffin throws a hook but El blocks it.

Griffin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but El moves away.
Griffin lands a glancing blow to the side of El's head.

El shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Griffin but Griffin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

El shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kal El. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Griffin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and El counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Griffin! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!
