PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santos comes into the arena with The Choosen One by Forever in Terror blaring out of the sound system. Fighter has chosen RENEGADE MASTER as his entrance music. Steve Fighter has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Pablo Santos's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pablo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Santos moves away from the strike by Fighter.
A combination from Fighter does no damage.
Fighter scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Santos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fighter tries to buck Santos off but Santos is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fighter is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Santos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fighter, who protects the arm well.
Fighter is looking to reverse the position.

Santos is trying to get an arm triangle but Fighter is defending well.

Santos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Fighter manages to work his way to half guard, despite Santos's best efforts.
Fighter is trying to control but Santos manages to pass to mount!

Santos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fighter is looking to escape.
Fighter wants to control but Santos is having none of it.

Santos is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fighter is surviving well by controlling Santos's body position as best he can.
Fighter has given up his back here.
Santos doesn't have the hooks in and Fighter manages to turn into his guard.

Fighter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fighter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fighter is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Santos is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Santos has escaped and now he's on top!
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Fighter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Santos is really struggling to control Fighter but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Fighter looking for a guillotine here but Santos defends easily.

Fighter is looking for a triangle but Santos pushes his legs off easily.

Santos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Fighter looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Santos has picked Fighter up and slammed him! Fighter can't keep hold of the triangle and Santos manages to pass to side control!
Santos scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Fighter to see if he's OK.

Santos tries for a kimura but Fighter is defending well.
Fighter sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Fighter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Santos.
Fighter wants to get back to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fighter looking for subs from the bottom but Santos mounts him!

Santos is working for a guillotine from mount but Fighter frees his head quite easily.
Santos tries to control but Fighter wriggling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fighter is in a horrible position here. Santos smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pablo Santos will probably get the nod.
That's time! Santos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Santos moves out of range of the body kick from Fighter.
Santos connects with an inside leg kick.
Fighter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Santos moves away.
Decent striking displayed by Santos there.
A head kick misses from Santos.
Santos throws a quick inside leg kick.
Fighter has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fighter there as he acknowledges the shot.
Fighter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Santos was well out of range. Poor timing from Fighter.
Santos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fighter manages to avoid it.
Santos works Fighter's body with a nice hook.
Santos throws a nice head kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fighter takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fighter buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Donk. Fighter catches Santos right on the button with a cross.
Fighter swinging wildly here.
Fighter misses with a few strikes there.
Steve Fighter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Fighter digs a good body shot into Santos's ribs.
Steve Fighter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fighter scores with a hook.
Santos tries a head kick but it misses.
Santos misses with a body shot.
Santos is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Steve Fighter seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Santos with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Santos avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Fighter lands a nice looking body shot.
Santos takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Santos is looking to wear down Fighter with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Santos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Santos looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Fighter!
The referee warns Fighter that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fighter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Fighter really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Fighter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Santos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Santos looking to finish Fighter with some ground and pound. This is bad for Fighter!
Fighter is squirming around, avoiding Santos's attempts to control the action.
Fighter is trying desperately to improve position.
Santos takes Fighter's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Fighter is in trouble.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santos is not going to allow Fighter to sit and survive in this position.
Pablo Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fighter avoids the strikes from Santos.

Santos is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Fighter is defending well though. Santos let's go of the attempt for now.
Fighter wants to control his opponent's hands but Santos gets his hands free.

Santos controlling well, preventing Fighter from escaping the position.

Fighter won't enjoy being in this position. Santos looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Fighter is tapping - it's over boys! Santos picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Pablo Santos!
Pablo Santos decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
