The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salvador shoots in and drives through. Vendrell sprawls well.
Vendrell lands a slapping body shot.
Vendrell goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Vendrell throws a head kick that misses.
Vendrell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Salvador jumps guard but Vendrell turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Salvador wants to take the fight to the mat but Vendrell manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Shane Vendrell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Salvador.

Vendrell is trying to trip Salvador. He has hold of a leg but Salvador is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Vendrell persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Salvador is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vendrell won't allow Salvador to get back to his feet.
Vendrell is looking to stand up but Salvador won't let him.
Salvador has his hands on Vendrell's head, controlling the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Salvador is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Salvador takes an elbow to the temple.
Vendrell tries to break the clinch but Salvador is controlling the position.
Vendrell connects with a nasty looking knee right to Salvador's face.
Vendrell misses with a hook from the clinch.
Vendrell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Vendrell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vendrell tries to clinch there but Salvador circles away.

Salvador fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vendrell turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Salvador.

Vendrell gets caught napping as Salvador dives in and scores a takedown. Vendrell manages to retain guard.

Vendrell is working an open guard so Salvador takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Vendrell lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Salvador tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vendrell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Salvador somewhat.
Marco Salvador seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vendrell tries a head kick but it misses.
Vendrell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Salvador gets the takedown into side control.

Vendrell wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Salvador is trying to get an arm triangle but Vendrell is defending well.
Salvador works to advance to full mount. Vendrell defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
