The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gregovich circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gregovich swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gregovich takes a swing at Meridius's ribcage but misses.
Meridius doesn't manage to clinch there - Gregovich circles away.

Meridius tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gregovich paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gregovich misses with a jab, cross combination.
Meridius keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Gregovich fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Meridius, pushing him back against the cage.
A right hook to the body lands for Meridius.

Gregovich breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gregovich rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Meridius moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gregovich misses with a few strikes there.
Meridius closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Meridius closes the distance but Gregovich moves to the side
and Gregovich counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Maximus Meridius has been cut.
Meridius clinches but Gregovich breaks the clinch

and Gregovich counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Meridius working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gregovich doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Meridius is tightening it up a little... Gregovich has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gregovich reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gregovich taps out! nice BJJ there by Meridius!
