And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Rickson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson looks to land a right hand but Silva moved out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thompson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Silva throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thompson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Silva is in Thompson's guard.

Silva stands up over Thompson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Thompson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Thompson is just content to waste time from the top position. Silva takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Thompson tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.
Thompson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Silva is proving hard to escape from.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thompson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thompson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Thompson's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thompson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thompson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thompson!

Thompson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A lull in the action here as Thompson stalls from top position.

Thompson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.

Silva tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Thompson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Thompson slows the pace down.

Thompson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Silva has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Thompson but great work by Silva.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Thompson takes one to the chin there.
Henry Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson lands a really nice looking cross but Silva seems unphased.

It looks like Rickson Silva has been cut.
Silva throws a hook but Thompson avoids it easily.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.
Thompson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Thompson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Silva.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Thompson drops Silva with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Silva looks back up at him and smiles so Thompson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Silva is rocked!
Thompson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Thompson sends Silva crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Thompson is motioning to the referee to let Silva up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Silva is still on wobbly legs! Can Thompson finish him?

Thompson gets a big slam - oh, Silva is out! Silva is out! That's a nasty KO!
