PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Giovanni Brunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mark Munoz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Giovanni Brunner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Munoz!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munoz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Brunner's head.
Munoz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Munoz darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Brunner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Munoz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Munoz connects with an inside leg kick.

Munoz moves into range and clinches up with Brunner.
Munoz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brunner is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Brunner obliges.
Brunner blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Brunner lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Munoz softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.


It looks like Giovanni Brunner has been cut.

Munoz has picked Brunner up - he's going for a ride! Munoz dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Munoz trying to control the action but Brunner is working from the bottom.
Brunner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Munoz lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Munoz lands a hook that snaps the head of Brunner backwards.
A head punch on the inside from Munoz fails to land.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Munoz lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Brunner or not.
Munoz lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Brunner is breathing heavily.
Munoz is working Brunner over against the cage.

Munoz makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Brunner tries to score a body lock takedown but Munoz shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Brunner is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Munoz lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Oh Brunner is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Munoz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brunner can't fight it off and eventually Munoz manages to take the fight to the floor. Brunner looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Brunner seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Munoz trying to control the position from guard on top but Brunner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Munoz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Munoz throwing strikes but missing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Munoz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Brunner takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Munoz throws a shot to the body.
Munoz lands a leg kick that knocks Brunner off balance momentarily.

Munoz is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brunner's half guard.
Munoz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brunner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Munoz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Munoz lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Brunner to his knees! Munoz keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

A less than humble Mark Munoz misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
