The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rossi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Biggins swivels and escapes.

Biggins shoots in and gets a takedown into Rossi's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Biggins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Biggins trying to control the position from guard on top but Rossi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rossi can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Russell Biggins.
Rossi throws a hook but Biggins blocks it.

Biggins gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rossi counters with a one-two to the body.
Rossi connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Rossi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Biggins displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rossi.
Rossi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rossi comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Biggins closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rossi circles away.

Rossi gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Rossi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Biggins shoots for a takedown but Rossi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Good work by Biggins as he checks the leg kick.
Rossi does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Rossi stuffs the takedown.
Biggins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rossi but Rossi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Biggins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rossi swivels and escapes.
Rossi fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Rossi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rossi scores with a hook to the body. Biggins takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Rossi lunges at Biggins with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Biggins's hand.
Rossi just misses with a punch to the body.
Rossi throws a right hand that Biggins ducks under and follows up with a left that Biggins also avoids with ease.

and Rossi counters with a left and a right that stings Biggins.

Rossi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Biggins looking for submissions off his back.
Rossi is looking to take a break and control but Biggins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rossi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rossi content to control rather than advance.
Rossi seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rossi throws a right and a left that Biggins avoids nicely.
Rossi throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Dale Rossi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rossi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Biggins defends it nicely.
Rossi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Biggins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rossi did well to prevent Biggins getting side control.
Biggins is trying to control the action in half guard but Rossi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Biggins is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rossi defends it well.
Rossi is trying to stand.

Rossi flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rossi is looking to control Biggins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rossi avoid being mounted?
Rossi scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Biggins manages to mount him!

It looks like Dale Rossi has been cut.
Biggins loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Rossi scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Biggins land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Biggins stands and salutes the crowd.
