And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Roddy Piper!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Hall.
Hall checks a leg kick nicely.
Hall's corner calls for a 1-2. Hall obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Piper dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hall moves out of range of the strikes.
Hall looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Piper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hall misses with the combination.
Hall ducks under a wild hook from Piper.
Piper connects with a high kick.

It looks like Don Hall has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hall misses with a few strikes there.
Hall staying out of range there.
Piper fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Piper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Piper just misses with a punch to the body.
Piper throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Piper tries to score with a low kick but Hall moves his leg out of the way.
Piper misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hall.
Hall throws the kick towards the body but Piper avoids it.
Hall throws a body punch but Piper moves out of range.
Hall lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Piper circles away quickly and effectively.
Piper throws a series of punches but Hall moves out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hall.
Hall takes one to the side of the head.
Hall misses with a straight right.
Hall throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Piper throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Hall falls off balance throwing a combination
and Piper makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Hall takes a swing at Piper's ribcage but misses.

Hall bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Piper manages to get back to half guard.
Piper controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Piper slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Hall wants to pass the guard but Piper is keeping the position.
Hall trying to control the position from guard on top but Piper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Piper lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hall!
Piper in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hall regains half guard.
Piper thows a huge punch but Hall dodges it nicely.
Piper wants to pass the guard but Hall is defending well.
Hall is looking to improve his position.
Piper throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Piper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Piper prevents Hall from improving his position.
Piper is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hall!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Piper fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hall is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Piper tries to control but Hall wriggling away.
Piper lands a big elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roddy Piper dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Don Hall's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A left and a right from Hall both land. Nice combination.
Hall takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hall closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Don Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Piper fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Piper looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hall throws a series of punches but Piper moves out of range.
Hall throws a lazy uppercut
and Piper counters with a leg kick.
Hall shoots in for a takedown but Piper shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Hall.
Hall misses with a series of wild punches.

Piper cracks Hall with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Piper counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Some bone on bone action there as Hall checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Piper closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hall to the mat! Hall manages to get full guard.

Piper is working Hall over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Piper throws an elbow that misses. Hall uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Piper's guard. Nice move by Hall!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Piper is on top in guard.
Piper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Hall looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Piper is defending well. Hall quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Piper has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hall celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
