Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nintendo Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hammer Longbird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takada's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Super Mario Bros Theme Soundtrack . Nintendo Takada could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hammer Longbird's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Nintendo Takada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hammer Longbird!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takada lands a leg kick that knocks Longbird off balance momentarily.
Takada throws the left hand but Longbird avoids the punch easily.
Takada listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Longbird misses with the combination.
Takada misses with a body shot.

Longbird darts in and clinches Takada up against the cage.
Takada can't get the takedown.
A nice right hand lands inside from Takada.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Takada as Longbird tries to tie him up.
Longbird throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Takada fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Takada has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Longbird is trying to keep an underhook but Takada manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Longbird tries to kick Takada off but Takada keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Takada throws a strike but Longbird avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Takada might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Takada prevents Longbird from getting back to his feet.

Takada postures up in Longbird's guard and throws a big left but Longbird blocks it.
Takada wants to pass the guard but Longbird is keeping the position.

Longbird has his feet on Takada's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Longbird throws a front kick aimed at Takada's knee but Takada avoids it well.
Longbird connects with a single shot there.
Takada throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Longbird's head.
Takada looks to land a body kick but Longbird moved away.
Takada misses with a body shot.
Longbird finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Longbird avoids the body shot from Takada.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Takada.
Longbird shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takada pinned against the cage. Takada gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Takada wants to slow Longbird down by chopping away at his legs.
Nintendo Takada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takada throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Takada connects with a good right hand that stumbles Longbird. Longbird circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Takada throws a sloppy head kick and Longbird moves out of range easily.
Takada ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Takada swats away the attempt to clinch by Longbird.
Longbird shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takada pinned against the cage. Takada gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Takada looks for a takedown but Longbird sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nintendo Takada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Longbird doesn't manage to clinch there - Takada circles away.
Longbird stuffs the takedown attempt from Takada. Takada gets slowly back to his feet.

Horrible takedown by Takada or perhaps it was just good defense by Longbird which made him look bad.
Takada is looking to wear down Longbird with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Longbird lands a jab to the nose.
Takada misses with a hook to the body
and Longbird counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Nintendo Takada has been cut.
Longbird moves in looking to clinch but Takada pushes him off.

Longbird moves into range and clinches up with Takada.
Takada drops down looking for an ankle pick but Longbird pulls his leg out and moves away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Longbird drives through with a takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takada is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Takada throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hammer Longbird will probably get the nod.

Takada throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Longbird misses with a head kick.
Takada walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Longbird tries to clinch there but Takada circles away.

Takada shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Longbird is trying to defend but Takada finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Takada thows a huge punch but Longbird dodges it nicely.

Takada is working for a kimura but Longbird is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Takada is working for an americana but Longbird has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Takada was thinking about the submission.
Longbird wants to stand up but Takada is controlling him.

Longbird preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Takada throws a big elbow that misses.
Takada working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Takada wants to control from the top but Longbird keeps moving.

Longbird is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Takada is aware though and is defending well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Takada accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Longbird manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Takada manages to get himself to full guard.
Takada wants to sweep but no luck.

Takada is trying to control the position but Longbird postures up.

Takada looking for a guillotine here but Longbird defends easily.
Takada pulls Longbird in close to prevent any damage.
Longbird postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Takada keeping moving, preventing Longbird from controlling successfully.
Longbird is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

and Longbird cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Horrible takedown by Longbird or perhaps it was just good defense by Takada which made him look bad.
Longbird looks to score with a jab to the body but Takada is just out of range.
Takada misses with a low kick.
Longbird tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Takada counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nintendo Takada is winning the standup battle so far.
Takada is looking to land body kicks.
Longbird on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Longbird scores with a crisp jab that stopped Takada in his tracks.
Longbird leaves Takada with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Longbird tries to clinch up but Takada circles away and keeps his distance.

Takada fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Longbird manages to avoid it.

Longbird stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Takada.

and Longbird counters with a nice uppercut.

Longbird has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Takada cracks the inside of Longbird's front leg.

Takada pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takada lands a nice leg kick that just misses Longbird's sensitive parts.
Longbird tries to clinch up.
Longbird feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Takada's calf.
Longbird wants to clinch up but Takada keeps it at a distance.
Takada checks a low kick from Longbird.
Takada moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Longbird is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Longbird tries to close the distance and clinch but Takada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A chopping leg kick lands by Takada.
Takada misses with a shot to the body
and Longbird counters with a straight right hand.
Takada shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Longbird but Longbird pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Takada just misses with a punch to the body.

Takada wants to slow Longbird down by chopping away at his legs.
Takada throws a body kick that misses.
Longbird fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Takada avoids it really well and circles away.
Takada scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Longbird doesn't seem bothered though.

Takada throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Longbird tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Takada is in Longbird's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Takada advances to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takada stops Longbird from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takada is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Longbird looks like he's trying to stand up.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Hammer Longbird.
I think Longbird has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
