Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Thompson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Penkov trying to control the position.

Thompson has hold of one of Penkov's legs. Penkov is fighting the takedown attempt but Thompson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Penkov has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Thompson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Penkov shoots for a takedown but Thompson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Thompson throws out a loose jab but Penkov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Penkov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Thompson to score with a decent uppercut.

Penkov is trying desperately to improve position.
Thompson working for a guillotine from mount but Penkov is in no mood to give up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Thompson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Penkov to take his back!

Thompson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Thompson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Thompson showed some decent athleticism there.

Thompson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Thompson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Penkov's face.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Thompson has hold of Penkov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Penkov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Thompson scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Penkov?
Penkov wants to get back to his feet.
Penkov wants to hold on but Thompson pushes him away.
Thompson prevents Penkov from getting the reversal.

Thompson is landing with some decent strikes but Penkov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Jet Thompson dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Thompson waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Penkov.
Thompson throws a hook but Penkov blocks it.
Penkov shoots in and drives through. Thompson sprawls well.
Thompson has Penkov up against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Penkov.
Penkov decides to pull guard.
Thompson prevents Penkov from getting back to his feet.
Penkov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Thompson stands up and waves to Penkov to follow him.
Thompson drops Penkov with a right and a left! Thompson comes rushing in but Penkov regains his composure and manages to keep Thompson in guard.
Penkov is rocked!
It looks like Penko Penkov has been cut.
Penkov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Thompson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Penkov's guard.
Penkov is still in real trouble! Can Thompson finish him?
Penkov tries to roll over but Thompson keeps him under control.
Penkov seems to have recovered his senses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Penkov wants to control but Thompson is keeping busy.
Penkov wants to get back to full guard.
Thompson trying to pass the guard but Penkov defending well.
Penkov holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Thompson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Penkov is trying desperately to improve position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thompson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Jet Thompson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thompson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Penkov is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Penkov tries to reverse the position but Thompson maintains control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Thompson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Penkov is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Penkov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Thompson looking for a guillotine from mount but Penkov is having none of it.
Penkov is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Thompson controlling his opponent.
Thompson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Penkov because Thompson loaded up on that one.
Thompson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Thompson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Penkov swivels and escapes.
Penkov throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Penkov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Penko Penkov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Thompson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that's the end of the fight!

Well Thompson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
