Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bishop comes to the cage accompanied by Drunkula - Lift The Whip. The crowd seem to be enjoying Mullen's choice of entrance music: Country Boy Can Survive. Billy Bishop is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Mullen!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullen is looking to slow Bishop down with leg kicks.
Bishop staying out of range there.
Bishop throws a shot from downtown. Mullen moves away and avoids it.
Mullen misses the shot to the body.
Bishop throws a hook but Mullen blocks it.
Mullen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
No joy there for Bishop, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bishop throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bishop throws a lazy right hand but Mullen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mullen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bishop has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bishop and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Mullen misses with a two punch combination.

A nice inside leg kick there by Bishop. That's going to slow Mullen down.
Bishop wants to clinch up but Mullen keeps it at a distance.
Billy Bishop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bishop manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mullen on his heels. He'll look to pass Mullen's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Bishop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mullen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bishop postures up in Mullen's guard and throws a big left but Mullen blocks it.

Mullen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bishop in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bishop loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bishop lands a couple of digs.
Bishop with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bishop passes Mullen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bishop has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mullen is trying to get back to full guard.
Bishop throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Mullen to regain full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mullen wants to improve his position but instead Bishop has moved into half guard.

Mullen is pressing down on Bishop's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mullen looking for a sweep. Not yet Mullen, not yet.
Bishop looking to sit in guard and control but Mullen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bishop is trying to control the position but Mullen postures up.

Bishop working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mullen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mullen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Billy Bishop dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A looping hook to the body misses from Mullen. Bishop does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bishop lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Bishop looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mullen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mullen loads up on a big right hand but Bishop slips the punch.
Mullen throws a head kick but Bishop moves out of range.
Bishop is looking to chop away at Mullen's legs.
Mullen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Mullen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mullen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bishop.
Good work by Mullen as he checks the leg kick.

Bishop cracks a nice hook into Mullen's ribs.

Mullen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mullen feints and then cracks Bishop's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bishop down.
Bishop tries to clinch there but Mullen circles away.

Bishop drives through with a takedown into Mullen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bishop throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mullen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mullen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bishop accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bishop is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Billy Bishop overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Billy Bishop has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Mullen keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Mullen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Bishop throws an overhand right that lands on Mullen's shoulder, as Mullen tries to avoid the shot.
Mullen throws a low kick but it's checked well by Bishop.

Mullen lands a slapping body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bishop tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mullen's elbow.
Mullen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Mullen dodges an elbow strike from Bishop.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bishop struggles to land a body shot inside as Mullen controls his hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Billy Bishop will probably get the nod.

Bishop shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mullen's guard.

Mullen can't keep his opponent in guard - Bishop advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mullen won't allow Bishop to pass to mount.
Mullen is looking for a sweep. Bishop is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mullen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mullen manages to get to full guard.

Bishop scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Bishop is in close to Mullen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bishop wants to control from the top but Mullen keeps moving.
Bishop trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Mullen manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bishop isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mullen stacks Bishop on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mullen!

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bishop, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
