PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damned Jimm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoover's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, March of the Templars . Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Hoover!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Damned Jimm!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoover shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jimm defends it nicely.
Jimm ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hoover moves away.
Jimm takes one to the chin there.
Hoover fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jimm keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A leg kick checked by Hoover.
Jimm cracks the inside of Hoover's front leg.
Jimm throws the kick towards the body but Hoover avoids it.
Hoover dodges the punch combination from Jimm.
Hoover moves out of range as Jimm throws a body kick.
Hoover shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jimm sprawls well. Jimm wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hoover gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edgar Hoover. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jimm moves away from the strike by Hoover.
Hoover changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jimm tries to avoid it but Hoover manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jimm to the ground. Jimm escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jimm looks to land a right hand but Hoover moved out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jimm fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Hoover is out of range.

Jimm avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hoover dodges the punch combination from Jimm.
Jimm bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Hoover has a takedown stuffed.
Jimm dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hoover. That did some damage!
Hoover has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Jimm.
Hoover is breathing heavily.
Jimm connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hoover's hands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hoover forces Jimm back against the cage and clinches.
Hoover drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jimm gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hoover tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jimm just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hoover is looking for a takedown.

Jimm breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jimm gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hoover to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jimm tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hoover in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jimm manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jimm misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hoover is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hoover really wants to buck Jimm off and get back to his feet.
Hoover is working to get back to half guard.

Jimm throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Jimm looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hoover tries to reverse the position but Jimm maintains control.
Jimm misses with a head shot.
Jimm tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
It looks like Jimm might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Hoover is desperately trying to improve his position but Jimm has a good base and remains in mount.

Jimm thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Hoover keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jimm thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Hoover is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jimm throwing strikes but Hoover uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jimm not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jimm throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jimm trying to mount his opponent but Hoover defends it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hoover is trying to stand back up but Jimm is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damned Jimm dominated that round.
That's time! Hoover's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hoover decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jimm looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jimm tries to get to full guard but Hoover has control of the leg.
Jimm on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hoover uses his free foot to push down on Jimm's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jimm.
Jimm can't escape the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jimm takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee warns Jimm that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Hoover postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jimm looks a forlorn figure.

A nice elbow there by Hoover.
Jimm can't escape the position.
Jimm tries to hold on but Hoover postures up.
Hoover with good strikes from the mount here!
Hoover breaks from Jimm's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jimm wants to hold on but Hoover pushes him away.
Jimm is looking to get to half guard.
Hoover in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

It looks like Damned Jimm has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hoover pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Jimm is trying desperately to improve position.
Jimm takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

That has opened up Damned Jimm's cut even more.
Hoover lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Edgar Hoover overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hoover looking to control but Jimm is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jimm is trying to escape the mount.
Hoover with the ground and pound from mount.

The cut above Damned Jimm's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Jimm tries to hold on but Hoover pushes him away.
Hoover with shots to the head and body - Jimm looks very uncomfortable down there.

Damned Jimm's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Damned Jimm's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Edgar Hoover!

Edgar Hoover decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
