Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aron Moraes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clarence Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aron Moraes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clarence Jones!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Moraes.
Moraes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Jones gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moraes is trying to get back to full guard.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones stalling.
Moraes trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Jones throwing shots but Moraes is blocking nicely.
Moraes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
No luck for Moraes with that takedown attempt.
Jones avoids a kick to the body.
Moraes throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Jones lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Moraes stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jones.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Jones rushes Moraes and presses him up against the cage.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jones lands a nice leg kick that just misses Moraes's sensitive parts.
Moraes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A combination from Jones does no damage.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jones!
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Moraes. Moraes gets slowly back to his feet.

Moraes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.

Moraes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones keeping full guard, as Moraes tries to pass.
Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Moraes!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Moraes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Moraes is bucking up trying to escape but Jones cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Jones has control of Moraes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Moraes regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Moraes manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Moraes's head.

Moraes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee warns Moraes that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Jones has hold of Moraes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Moraes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Moraes can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clarence Jones dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Moraes is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jones.
Moraes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.
Moraes throws a low kick, looking for Jones's leg but Jones calmly moves out of range.

and Moraes counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
Jones can't do much from the bottom here.
Moraes looks up at the clock and then as Jones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Moraes smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Jones manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Jones wants to improve his position but Moraes is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones tries to roll over but Moraes keeps him under control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Moraes fails to land with a series of punches.
Aron Moraes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones looks to land a combination. Moraes sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jones drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Moraes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Moraes prevents Jones from breaking the clinch.
Moraes keeps control of Jones as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Jones gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Moraes regains guard.
Jones controls from within his opponent's guard.

Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jones wanted to stand there but Moraes had control of the position.
Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jones slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Moraes stops Jones from passing to mount.
Moraes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jones cracks Moraes with a big right hand but Moraes just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

You can see the frustration on Moraes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Moraes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jones keeps control of Moraes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The fight stays on the outside here - Moraes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Aron Moraes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Moraes prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Jones in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Jones is in a horrible position here. Moraes smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Aron Moraes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Moraes looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jones bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aron Moraes.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
