PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago De Jesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Callan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Jesus's entrance music is El Legado-Crack Family. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mark Callan was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Santiago De Jesus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Callan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Callan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Jesus sprawls well. De Jesus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Callan gets slowly back to his feet.
De Jesus moves in looking to clinch but Callan pushes him off.
De Jesus throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Callan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
De Jesus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

De Jesus pushes Callan up against the cage in a clinch.
Callan is trying to drag De Jesus to the mat but De Jesus just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Callan manages to break the clinch.
Callan tries for a takedown but De Jesus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Santiago De Jesus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Callan.
Callan shoots in for a takedown but De Jesus shows good takedown defense.
Callan shoots in for a double leg but De Jesus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

It looks like Mark Callan has been cut.

Callan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
De Jesus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
De Jesus lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

De Jesus closes the distance and pushes Callan back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Callan avoids a wild elbow strike from De Jesus.

The referee is keeping an eye on De Jesus - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Callan tries to score a body lock takedown but De Jesus shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Callan is trying desperately to land a takedown but De Jesus is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Callan.

Callan shoots in for a takedown but De Jesus shows good takedown defense.

Callan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

De Jesus regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Callan.

Callan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! De Jesus is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Callan, into his guard.

De Jesus wants to get up but he can't break Callan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Callan looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! De Jesus has picked Callan up and slammed him! Callan can't keep hold of the triangle and De Jesus manages to pass to side control!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for De Jesus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
