The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
No luck for Simpson with that takedown attempt.
Warner misses with a few strikes there.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Simpson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Warner swivels and escapes.
Simpson is breathing heavily.

Simpson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Warner tries to buck Simpson off but Simpson is having none of it.

Simpson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Warner has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Simpson but great work by Warner.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Simpson, who protects the arm well.
Simpson tries to buck Warner off but Warner is having none of it.

Simpson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Warner's best efforts.

Warner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Simpson misses with a body punch
and Warner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Simpson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Warner to the mat! Warner manages to get full guard.

Warner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Warner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Simpson!

Warner wants to finish this one by submission but Simpson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Warner.

Warner is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Warner working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Simpson is doing well to defend. Warner seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Simpson is forced to tap and this one is over!
