Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demetryos Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Harris!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Harris jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Alves decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Alves prevents Harris from improving his position.
Harris moves into full guard.

Alves drops back looking for a leg! Harris is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Harris manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into Harris's guard.

Alves controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alves jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Harris postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alves is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Harris, into his guard.
Harris should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Harris is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Alves is controlling him.

Harris is trying to keep Alves in close.
Alves stops Harris from standing up.
Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Alves drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harris looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harris looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harris!

It looks like Harris is going to stand back up.

Harris stands up and beckons Alves to join him on the feet.
Harris lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Alves backs up against the cage.
Harris throws a series of punches but Alves avoids them all with ease.
Harris looks to score with a jab to the body but Alves is just out of range.
Alves uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Harris.
Harris throws a right and a left that both miss.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Harris scores with a three punch combo!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves moves out of range of the leg kick from Harris.
Alves ducks under a wild hook from Harris.
Harris uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Harris fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Harris connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alves's hands.

Harris punishes Alves's body with a nice straight punch.
Oh Alves is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Alves is breathing heavily.
Alves blocking the ground and pound attempt from Harris.
Harris wants to stand up but Alves has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Harris not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Alves is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Harris pulls his head out easily.
Alves seems to have got his legs back now.
Harris is keen to just control but Alves is a slippery customer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Harris thows a huge punch but Alves dodges it nicely.
Alves is looking for a sweep. Harris is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Harris moves nicely into side control.
Alves is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Harris dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Good work by Alves as he checks the leg kick.
Alves tries for a takedown but Harris sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Harris misses with a two punch combination.
Harris thows a left - swing and a miss!
Alves takes a shot to the body in his stride.
No luck for Alves with that takedown attempt.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetryos Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alves is looking to sinch up a triangle. Harris throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Alves's body to avoid the submission. Alves has instead reached around Harris's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Alves arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
