PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Firco Nowack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wolverine Warpath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warpath has chosen X-men theme song as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nowack needs to keep his hands up - Warpath had a free shot at his head there.
Warpath tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nowack was well out of range. Poor timing from Warpath.
Nowack takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nowack takes a jab right on the kisser.
Good shot there by Warpath.
Good exchange - Warpath coming out on top.
Warpath fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nowack on the side of the head.

Nowack moves into the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Nowack creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Nowack just leaning against Warpath, taking a breather.
Nowack seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Warpath jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nowack walks away with a smile on his face. Warpath gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nowack misses with a lunging right hand
and Warpath counters with a nice uppercut.
Warpath jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Nowack has Warpath up against the cage in a clinch.
Warpath tries to pull guard but Nowack forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Nowack lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Nowack comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Nowack breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nowack looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Nowack takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Firco Nowack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warpath moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Warpath tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Nowack throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Warpath.

Warpath takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Warpath chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Nowack can pounce on him.

Warpath is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Nowack had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Warpath might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Warpath throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nowack sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Warpath escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nowack gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nowack wants to control from the top but Warpath keeps moving.

Warpath has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nowack is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Warpath.

Warpath is trying to escape the position but Nowack is controlling the position.

Warpath is trying to control Nowack's posture but Nowack avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Wolverine Warpath will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Nowack has managed to clinch.
Nowack throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Warpaths head.
Warpath tries to pull guard but Nowack won't allow it.

Nowack stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warpath swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Warpath has his foot on Nowack's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nowack works his way back into a safe position though.

Warpath is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nowack is aware though and is defending well.
Warpath takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Warpath has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nowack can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Warpath has a closed guard, preventing Nowack from standing up.

Warpath isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Nowack stacks Warpath on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Nowack!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nowack wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warpath keeps working.

Warpath throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nowack escapes and throws Warpath's legs to the side, diving into side control!
