PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kong Po (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by Tiger Style. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kong Po!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker rushes Po and presses him up against the cage.

Po has clasped his hands together around Walker's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Po working the ground and pound.
Po trying to control the position but Walker is working away.

Walker throws Po to one side and escapes!
Walker throws a head kick that misses.

Walker gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Po takes an elbow to the temple.

Po jumps into guard, dragging Walker to the mat.
Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Po swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walker trying to stand up but can't free himself from Po's guard.

Walker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Po manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walker has Po in his guard.
Po is looking to work some ground and pound but Walker has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Po looking to sit in guard and control but Walker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Po swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Walker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Po, up you get!
Marcus Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Walker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Po to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Po with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Po throwing strikes from guard but Walker blocks nicely.
Po throws an elbow that misses. Walker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Po's guard. Nice move by Walker!

Po is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Po escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Walker gets to his feet - Po follows without any prompting.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A solid leg kick lands there for Walker.
Walker tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Walker swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Po misses with a series of wild punches.
Walker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Walker gets caught napping as Po dives in and scores a takedown. Walker manages to retain guard.
Po postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Walker keeping moving, preventing Po from controlling successfully.
Po won't allow Walker to get back to his feet.
Po trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Walker is looking to stand up but Po isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kong Po.

Walker pushes Po up against the cage in a clinch.
Walker scores with a knee to the head.

Po is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Walker can't fight it off and eventually Po manages to take the fight to the floor. Walker looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Po postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Po throws a big right hand that misses.
Walker has momentary wrist control but Po slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kong Po dominated that round.
That's time! Walker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Walker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Po scores with a takedown into Walker's guard.

Po is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walker has escaped and now he's on top!
Walker wants to pass the guard but Po is keeping the position.

Walker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Walker lands a head kick!

Walker closes the distance and clinches.
Walker misses with a knee to the head.

Po has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Walker is trying to keep an underhook but Po manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Po wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker is trying to stand back up but Po is controlling him

Po is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Po not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Po is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Po throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Po is working for a submission of some sort.

Po looking for a submission but Walker manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker keeping moving, preventing Po from controlling successfully.
Kong Po has got the better of the ground game so far.
Po is looking to stand up but Walker won't let him.

Walker pushes Po off and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Po blocks a head kick by Walker.
Po tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Po fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A head kick misses from Walker.

Po changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Walker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Po lands an elbow.
Sloppy strikes there by Po.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Po wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Walker, who protects the arm well.
Po has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Po looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kong Po showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Po swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Po moves out of range easily.
Walker keeps the fight on the outside.
Po will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Po has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Walker has Po up against the cage in a clinch.

Po manages to pull guard.

Walker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Po, up you get!
Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Po moves out of range easily.
Po is looking to clinch but Walker is avoiding it.
Po rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Walker scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Walker throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walker throws a series of punches but Po avoids them all with ease.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Po drives through with a takedown into guard.
Po trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Walker avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Po is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walker has escaped and now he's on top!
Walker tries to free his leg and advance position but Po is retaining full guard.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Po looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Po looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Po!

Po swings around for an armbar but Walker sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Po's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Po escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Po throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Po keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass.
Walker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Po's guard.
Po is pressing down on Walker's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Po looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Po looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Po!

Walker wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Po tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Po has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Marcus Walker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Po in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Po misses with the ground and pound.
Po wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working.

Po is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Walker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Po working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kong Po.
I've got Po winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
