PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Costa has chosen His Own Highlight Video as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pablo Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Felipe Costa!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar misses with an uppercut.
Escobar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Costa was well out of range. Poor timing from Escobar.
Escobar closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Escobar lands a nice hook to Costa's body. Costa takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Escobar tests Costa's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Escobar keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice defenses there by Costa.
Escobar clobbers Costa with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Costa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Costa.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Costa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Escobar dives on top into guard.

Escobar avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Costa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Escobar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Costa keeping moving, preventing Escobar from controlling successfully.

Costa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Escobar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Escobar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Escobar trying to control the position from guard on top but Costa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Costa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Escobar is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Costa.
Costa tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Escobar presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Costa tries to reverse the position but Escobar maintains control.
Escobar wants to control the pace but Costa is squirming around nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Escobar wants to finish this one by submission but Costa is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Escobar.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Costa manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Costa is looking for a sweep. Escobar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Costa wants to sweep but Escobar has passed to side control!

Escobar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Costa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Escobar decides to stand back up.
Escobar is looking to clinch but Costa is avoiding it.
Escobar scores with a crisp jab that stopped Costa in his tracks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Escobar pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Escobar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Costa counters with a shoot takedown. Escobar fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Costa wants to pass the guard but Escobar is keeping the position.

Costa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Escobar looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Escobar looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Escobar!

Escobar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Costa to his feet.
Sloppy strikes from Costa. Those never looked like landing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Costa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Escobar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Costa somewhat.
Escobar throws a series of punches but Costa avoids them all with ease.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pablo Escobar will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Escobar lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Escobar lands a jab.
Escobar lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Costa can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Escobar and Costa drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Escobar.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pablo Escobar!
Pablo Escobar very nearly forgot to thank Wolfpack Blood Labs Q158-Q155 amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
