PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Khalidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalidov comes to the cage accompanied by Punks Jump Up To Get Beatdown. Adams comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kronik kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fedor Khalidov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fedor Khalidov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Adams!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khalidov's waist but Khalidov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Adams off to one side.
Some wild striking there from Khalidov.
Khalidov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Adams manages to avoid it.

Adams shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Adams decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Khalidov is breathing heavily.

Adams has Khalidov up against the cage in a clinch.
Khalidov can't find room to land a body shot as Adams controls the action.

Adams is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Khalidov can't fight it off and eventually Adams manages to take the fight to the floor. Khalidov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Adams sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Khalidov's guard.
Adams looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Khalidov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Adams is pressing down on Khalidov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Khalidov is holding on for now.

Adams working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Khalidov's thigh. Khalidov counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Adams trying to control but Khalidov is working from the bottom.
Adams controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brian Adams wasn't active enough on the ground.
Adams throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Khalidov on the side of the head.


It looks like Fedor Khalidov has been cut.
Adams is looking to chop away at Khalidov's legs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Adams shoots in looking for a takedown but Khalidov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Adams closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Khalidov did well to prevent Adams getting side control.

Adams is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Adams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Adams stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Khalidov to get to his feet.
Khalidov circles away from the clinch attempt.

Khalidov stuffs the takedown attempt from Adams. Adams gets slowly back to his feet.

Khalidov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Khalidov finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Adams rushes Khalidov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Khalidov stops a takedown attempt from Adams.

Khalidov is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Adams manages to break the clinch.
Adams tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Adams throws a sloppy head kick and Khalidov moves out of range easily.
Adams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Khalidov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Adams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fedor Khalidov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Adams shoots for a takedown but Khalidov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fedor Khalidov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Adams.

Khalidov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Adams stands up and waves to Khalidov to follow him.

Brian Adams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adams throws a head kick but Khalidov moves out of range.
Adams wants to clinch up but Khalidov keeps it at a distance.
Adams shoots in looking for a takedown but Khalidov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Khalidov throws a head kick that misses
and Adams counters with a left to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Adams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Adams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A combination from Adams does no damage.
Adams pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Adams shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khalidov defends it nicely.
Adams tries to clinch but Khalidov moves out of range.
Adams fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Adams loads up on a big right hand but Khalidov slips the punch.

Adams is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Khalidov. No joy for Adams on that attempt.

Adams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khalidov's guard.
Khalidov keeping moving, preventing Adams from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Adams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Brian Adams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Adams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Adams has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Adams closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Khalidov quickly recovers to half guard.
Adams is pressing down on Khalidov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Khalidov is holding on for now.

Adams throws a nice looking combination but Khalidov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Adams thows a body shot but no joy.
Khalidov looks up at the clock. Bad move! Adams lands a right hand from hell, dropping Khalidov. Adams pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
