Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Icaro Asas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vanden Plas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Icaro Asas has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Icaro Asas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vanden Plas!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Plas circles away.
Horrible takedown by Asas or perhaps it was just good defense by Plas which made him look bad.
Asas shoots in for a takedown but Plas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Asas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Plas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Asas somewhat.

Asas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Plas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Asas.

Asas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Asas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Asas winds up and cracks Plas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Plas won't allow Asas to pass to mount.
Plas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Asas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Asas's back!

Plas has Asas's back but decides to stand back up... Obviously he fancies his chances in the standup department!

Asas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Plas's waist but Plas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Asas off to one side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Asas takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Asas shoots in looking for a takedown. Plas tries to sprawl out of it but Asas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Plas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Plas drops Asas with a beautiful combination! Asas stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Plas is looking for the KO!

Asas feints and as Plas raises his hands in defense, Asas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Plas wants to stand but Asas is controlling the position.

Plas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Asas is one step ahead there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Plas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Asas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Plas tries to avoid it but Asas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Plas to the ground. Plas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
