Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jens Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Thome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitch Thome acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schmidt closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Thome quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schmidt is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thome is just riding it out for now. Schmidt eventually gives up the hold.

Thome kicks Schmidt off and gets back to his feet.

Schmidt shoots for a takedown but Thome saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Thome shoots for a double leg takedown but Schmidt sprawls well. He's pushed Thome's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Thome enables Schmidt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Thome manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Schmidt drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Thome manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Schmidt has Thome in his guard.

Thome got a little sloppy there for a moment and Schmidt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thome has managed to get both his arms back between Schmidt's legs - danger averted.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thome connects with a nice short shot to Schmidt's temple.
