Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Longfellow Deeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devan Dubnyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Deeds might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Evils Deeds. Dubnyk has chosen Obnoxious - Immortal Technique as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devan Dubnyk!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deeds uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dubnyk.
Dubnyk throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Deeds throws a big shot that misses.
A punch lands to the side of Deeds 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Dubnyk missing with a left hand there. Deeds was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Dubnyk swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Deeds counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Deeds closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Deeds lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Deeds controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Deeds trying to control the position from guard on top but Dubnyk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Longfellow Deeds has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Deeds gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Devan Dubnyk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dubnyk throws an overhand right that lands on Deeds's shoulder, as Deeds tries to avoid the shot.
Dubnyk lands a nice looking body shot.
Dubnyk throws a series of strikes that have Deeds backpedaling.
No joy there for Dubnyk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Devan Dubnyk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Deeds throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Deeds with the ground and pound but Dubnyk uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Deeds has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Deeds wants to control from the top but Dubnyk keeps moving.
Deeds stops Dubnyk from standing up.
Deeds trying to control but Dubnyk is working from the bottom.
Deeds throwing strikes but missing.
Dubnyk tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dubnyk wants to stand and escape but Deeds is having none of it.

Deeds is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dubnyk is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dubnyk has escaped and now he's on top!

Deeds is looking for a triangle here but Dubnyk uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Deeds is trying to improve his position.
Dubnyk landing strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Deeds is trying to get back to half guard.
Deeds is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Devan Dubnyk will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Deeds counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sloppy strikes from Dubnyk. Those never looked like landing.

Deeds closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dubnyk did well to prevent Deeds getting side control.
Dubnyk wants to control but Deeds is keeping busy.
Dubnyk wants to get back to his feet.
Deeds looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Dubnyk trying to hold on to Deeds's head to control him but Deeds postures up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Deeds is looking for a kimura but Dubnyk is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Deeds to get the leverage.

Dubnyk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Deeds is trying to control. Dubnyk wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deeds stalling away here and it's allowed Dubnyk to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Deeds drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dubnyk dives on top into guard.
Longfellow Deeds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dubnyk wants to control from the top but Deeds keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dubnyk not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Deeds preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Deeds is looking for a triangle but Dubnyk pushes his legs off easily.

Deeds isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dubnyk stacks Deeds on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dubnyk!

Dubnyk decides to stand back up. Dubnyk steps back and let's Deeds get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Deeds keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Horrible takedown by Deeds or perhaps it was just good defense by Dubnyk which made him look bad.

Devan Dubnyk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Deeds shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dubnyk's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Deeds shoots in looking for a takedown. Dubnyk tries to sprawl out of it but Deeds keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dubnyk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Deeds shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Deeds takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Devan Dubnyk is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Deeds has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Dubnyk finds it's way round the side to connect with Deeds's head.
Deeds shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dubnyk sprawls well. Dubnyk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Deeds gets slowly back to his feet.
