Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: LL Cool J - It´s Time For War. Pablo Gomez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Shields!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields avoids the head kick by Gomez.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Shields tries a head kick but it misses.
Shields throws a half hearted mid kick.
Shields throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomez's waist but Gomez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shields off to one side.
Shields misses with a low kick.
Shields misses with a wild body shot.
Shields throws a head kick but Gomez moves out of range.

Shields shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gomez is trying desperately to improve position.
Gomez wants to control but Shields is having none of it.
Shields content just to control the position here.

Shields can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gomez is looking to escape.

Gomez tries to reverse the position but Shields maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gomez is looking to get to half guard.

Shields is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gomez has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gomez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gomez holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Shields tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gomez tries to lock up and control but Shields gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Shields is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gomez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gomez is looking to improve his position but Shields isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shields looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Shields takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Shields has hold of Gomez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gomez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gomez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Shields looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Shields mounts Gomez! Really nice guard pass there!
Shields misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Gomez is squirming around, avoiding Shields's attempts to control the action.
Gomez tries to lock up and control but Shields gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Gomez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Shields.

Shields has control of Gomez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gomez regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Gomez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gomez wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Shields is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Gomez knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Gomez for a finish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shields working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Gomez is doing well to defend. Shields seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Gomez is forced to tap and this one is over!

Jake Shields decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
