PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johua Nashigon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nashigon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Live my life kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Johua Nashigon enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johua Nashigon!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nashigon shoots in and bounces Kelly off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kelly keeping moving, preventing Nashigon from controlling successfully.
Nashigon passes Kelly's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kelly looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nashigon trying to control the action but Kelly is working from the bottom.
Nashigon works his way into full mount!
Nashigon won't let Kelly get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Kelly trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Nashigon is trying to control here but Kelly has managed to regain half guard.
Kelly is staying active underneath Nashigon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kelly wants to get back to his feet.
Nashigon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kelly!

Kelly is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nashigon is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kelly has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Nashigon throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Kelly is trying to stand.
Nashigon trying to control but Kelly is having none of it.
Nashigon controlling from the full mount.

Kelly wants to get back to his feet.
Nashigon scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Kelly wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kelly is breathing heavily.

Nashigon lands a heavy elbow.

Nashigon goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kelly turns into him and now he's in Nashigon's guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kelly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nashigon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nashigon shoots in but no luck this time.

Kelly gets the takedown into side control.
Nashigon is trying to improve his position.

Kelly stands up.

Nashigon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nashigon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Kelly kicks Nashigon off and gets back to his feet.
Nashigon is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nashigon takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Johua Nashigon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kelly dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kelly moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kelly throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kelly feints a jab promting Nashigon to slip. Kelly then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Nashigon slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Kelly goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Danga de danga de dang - Kelly scores with a four punch combination!
Nashigon moves in looking to clinch but Kelly pushes him off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nashigon on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Kelly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kelly decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kelly dives in and grabs Nashigon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nashigon pushes down on Kelly's head and hops out.
Nashigon wants to clinch up but Kelly keeps it at a distance.
Nashigon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kelly's waist but Kelly gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nashigon off to one side.

Kelly rushes Nashigon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nashigon is trying to pull guard but Kelly has him pressed against the cage.
Ron Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johua Nashigon.

Kelly breaks the clinch.
Kelly misses with a head kick.
Kelly leaves Nashigon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Nashigon walks forward, straight into a front kick from Kelly.
Nashigon misses with a takedown attempt - Kelly sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kelly throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ron Kelly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A nice combination there by Kelly.

Nashigon moves into range and clinches up with Kelly.

Nashigon breaks the clinch.

Kelly forces Nashigon back against the cage and clinches.

Nashigon pulls guard successfully.

Kelly gets to his feet - Nashigon follows without any prompting.

Kelly moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Kelly tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nashigon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kelly somewhat.
Nashigon shoots in looking for a takedown. Kelly tries to sprawl out of it but Nashigon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kelly manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nashigon takes one on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Kelly dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kelly instigates a clinch.
Kelly is pressed up against the cage. Nashigon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kelly down to the mat. Kelly avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nashigon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kelly defends it nicely.
Kelly shoots in and drives through. Nashigon sprawls well.
Nashigon throws a jab but it's blocked by Kelly.
Sloppy strikes from Nashigon. Those never looked like landing.
Kelly throws a combination. Nashigon tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Nashigon fails with the takedown
and Kelly counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Ron Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johua Nashigon.
Nashigon has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nashigon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nashigon has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kelly finds it's way round the side to connect with Nashigon's head.
Kelly lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nashigon backs up against the cage.
Nashigon on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kelly. Kelly obviously looking to wear him down.
Nashigon stuffs the takedown.

Kelly moves into the clinch.
Kelly has Nashigon pressed against the cage.

Kelly pulls Nashigon into guard.
Nashigon wants to control from the top but Kelly keeps moving.
Nashigon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kelly kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Kelly manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kelly lands a lovely overhand right.
Kelly throws a right and a left that both miss.

Kelly shoots in and gets a takedown into Nashigon's guard.

Kelly gets to his feet - Nashigon follows without any prompting.
Nashigon shoots in but Kelly avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kelly pushes Nashigon away with a front kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kelly throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nashigon fails to land with a series of punches.
Nashigon moves forwards but Kelly connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nashigon on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Nashigon fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kelly to the ground. Nashigon is now in Kelly's guard.
Kelly wants to get back to his feet but Nashigon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Kelly pushes Nashigon off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Nashigon misses with a body shot.
A right-left combo lands from Kelly.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kelly tries to circle away but Nashigon has him pinned against the cage.

Kelly escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kelly throws a hook but Nashigon avoids it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nashigon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kelly tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nashigon is in Kelly's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kelly is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ron Kelly showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kelly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
