PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Raymond Tiew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Shouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiew's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, THE KING OF POISON IS COMING. The key to victory for Raymond Tiew has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raymond Tiew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Shouse !
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiew fails with the takedown

and Shouse counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Shouse slows down the pace here.
Tiew lands a shoulder strike.
Tiew lands a hook that snaps the head of Shouse backwards.

Shouse 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A combination from Shouse does no damage.
Nice takedown defense from Tiew. No joy for Shouse on that attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tiew looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tiew tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tiew closes the distance but Shouse moves to the side

and Shouse decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tiew's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Tiew looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Shouse passes into side control.
Tiew wants to get back to his feet.
Tiew avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Shouse .

Shouse tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tiew takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shouse is working Tiew over with some ground and pound from side control.

Shouse thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Tiew is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Shouse has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tiew is trying to stand but he's just given Shouse his back.

Shouse just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shouse is looking for a choke. Tiew gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Tiew manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Tiew's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Tiew tries to break the clinch but Shouse is controlling the position.
Tiew tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Shouse keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tiew's efforts to push away.

Shouse breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shouse avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shouse slips a jab and a cross from Tiew.

Tiew takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Tiew shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shouse but Shouse pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Shouse shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Shouse wants to take a breather but Tiew is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shouse is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Tiew is trying to stand.

Shouse slips a nice elbow through Tiew's hands, connecting with Tiew's forehead.

Shouse is trying to stick to Tiew's back but Tiew is turning into Shouse . He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Shouse 's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Tiew.

Joshua Shouse showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Shouse shoots in looking for a takedown but Tiew manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shouse 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Tiew fails with an attempt to clinch.

Shouse has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tiew uses from the top position.

Tiew is looking to work some ground and pound but Shouse has wrist control.

Shouse escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tiew gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Shouse uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Tiew fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Shouse fails with a takedown attempt.

Tiew has taken the fight to the clinch.
Tiew is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shouse gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Tiew goes for a takedown attempt but Shouse pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Shouse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tiew paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Shouse shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shouse showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Joshua Shouse comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shouse has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
